Tower Safety has officially joined the elite group of training companies in the US offering SPRAT certification. We were proudly joined by Phoenix Bomb Squad, DPS Aerial Rescue, Phoenix Fire Dept., and a Safety Professional from Mastec. We would like to congratulate all 5 out 5 students for passing their independent evaluation for certification.
SPRAT certification is an important skill that builds confidence by understanding a (2) rope system. Rope Access by definition is a means of access by descending or ascending a main line while the worker is protected by a safety line. The tools and techniques presented differ greatly from traditional “controlled descent” used throughout the industry.
The four-day training course is followed by a physical and written test provided by a third-party examiner. During the four days of training, these men were taught the importance for SPRAT Level 1 techniques. The skills learned will allow them to add valuable techniques to their tool box that makes the job safer and more efficient for all. SPRAT certification enables the wireless worker to think of creative ways for how they can access difficult work sites. Using Rope access techniques and tools will make the job 1. Safer 2. More efficient. Having learned how to apply SPRAT standards and techniques gives us the knowledge to be safer and more efficient riggers by understanding how ropes, knots, anchorages can work for our industry.
The equipment provided during the SPRAT course was graciously given by Arizona Hiking Shack (www.ahsrescue.com). The students were outfitted with the latest Petzl gear, allowing them to experience the expertise of an equipment manufacturer that keeps safety a priority.
Thank you, AHS Rescue, Petzl, AZ Public Safety, and Mastec for making education and safety #1!
